COME WHAT MAY/ LET IT RAIN
– RED EARTH SERIES 2018
RED SANDSTONE
92 x 38 x 23 cm
Life can throw slings and arrows, beating down, overwhelming, but one can endure or even rise above it with a spiritual strength and stillness.
The work is also influenced by a poem by SU Shi / SU Dongpo (Song Dynasty)
Ding Feng Bo
Heed not to the tree-rustling and leaf-lashing windswept rain
Why not stroll along, whistle and sing under its reign
Lighter and better suited than horses are straw sandals and a bamboo cane
And fear not
A palm-leaf plaited cape shall misty weather in life sustain
A thorny spring breeze sobers up the spirit
Feeling a slight chill
The setting sun over the mountain offers greetings still
Looking back over the bleak passage survived
The return in time
Shall not be affected by windswept rain or shine
